What is Fing?
Born from the ashes of Look@LAN, fing is the ultimate command line tool for network and service discovery, taking advantage of the brand new cross-platform network engine which is going to be the core of our next upcoming products. Our new team of IT specialists has been working on it, and that is only our first milestone, a good way to start testing the core engine on the field and let you start enjoying the view of your network. Our plan is clear and straight and will brings us to offer to you a complete integrated solution for network monitoring and network management.
At the moment fing is a command-line tool, but GUI is coming soon.
Network discovery
The network discovery provides you a complete view of any network in a very short time: fing smart discovery automatically detects the network type and uses the best technique to take the picture of it.
The best results are surely achieved on ethernet networks (WiFi ones included), where fing can benefit of a special data-link layer discovery engine which allows it to reach an impressive discovery sharpness and speed: no matter what firewall or blocker you installed on a machine, fing is going to discover it in few seconds!
You can start as many discoveries you wish, and for each running discovery you can make fing produce several output flows. E.g. a network table view in HTML format plus a CSV log of network events. Fing provides reports that can be used in console window, during normal network/system administration work, like a plain text report, but also enhanced reports, like HTML or XML format, that can be viewed from a browser or imported by your 3rd party applications.
Service discovery
The service discovery feature quickly detects active TCP services on a target host or network.
Service discovery also gives its best with ethernet-based networks, where TCP SYN scan technique can be applied to audit active services on any host in few seconds.
Discovered services can be exported to various formats (like text, CSV, XML, HTML), so that it is actually possible not only to use it as a command line administrative tool, but also integrated with your 3rd party applications.

Qu’est-ce que Fing ?
Né des cendres de Look@LAN, fing est le dernier outil en ligne de commande pour découverte de réseau et de services, en reprenant les atouts du nouveau moteur réseau multi-plateformes qui sera le cœur de nos prochains produits. Notre nouvelle équipe d’experts en informatique ayant travaillé dessus, il s’agit de notre première étape importante, une bonne manière de tester le nouveau moteur sur le terrain et de vous laisser apprécier la vue d’ensemble de votre réseau. Notre plan est clair et net, et nous amènera à vous offrir une solution intégrée complète de surveillance et de maintenance réseau.
Pour l’instant fing est un outil en ligne de commande, mais une interface graphique arrive bientôt.
Découverte réseau
La découverte réseau vous offre une vue complète de n’importe quel réseau en un laps de temps très court : « fing smart discovery » (la découverte intelligente de fing) détecte le type de réseau et utilise la meilleure technique pour en récupérer une image.
Les meilleurs résultats sont assurément obtenus sur les réseaux Ethernet (réseaux sans fil inclus), sur lesquels fing bénéficie d’un moteur de découverte exploitant une couche spéciale data-link, qui lui permet d’atteindre une précision et une vitesse de découverte impressionnantes : peu importe quel pare-feu ou programme de blocage vous ayez installé sur une machine, fing va la découvrir en quelques secondes !
Vous pouvez démarrer autant de découvertes que vous le souhaitez, et pour chaque découverte en cours, vous pouvez faire en sorte que fing produise plusieurs flux de sortie. Par exemple un tableau au format HTML plus un journal CSV des événements réseau. Fing produit des rapports qui peuvent être utilisés dans une console, au cours du travail normal d’administration du réseau/système, pour un rapport dans un fichier plat, mais également pour des rapports évolués, aux formats HTML ou XML, qui peuvent être visualisés dans un navigateur ou une application tierce.
Découverte de services
La fonction de découverte de services détecte rapidement les services TCP actifs sur une cible (hôte ou réseau).
La découverte de service donne aussi ses meilleurs résultats sur les réseaux Ethernet, où la technique de scan TCP SYN peut être utilisée pour écouter les services actifs sur tout hôte en quelques secondes.
Les services découverts peuvent être exportés sous différents formats ( texte, CSV, XML, HTML ), aussi non seulement il est possible de l’utiliser comme un outil d’administration en ligne de commande, mais également de l’intégrer à vos applications tierces.
